NSO and other stuff

So...sorry about the change of font in my last post...not sure how to get it back.  Anyway -- now that the last who knows how long is updated, lets move to the interesting stuff.

So...4 weeks in solitary confinement.  During the last week, my parents left for Saint Thomas, leaving my brothers, grandma, and I home.  My grandma was watching us since my parents didn't really trust me yet (not that I think they do even now).  Anyway, the day after they got back, we all went to the wedding/reception of my best friend from elementary (I guess, though I was home schooled....).  She's 18.  First of my friends getting married...kinda crazy. :)  That was amazing though - -she looked so beautiful -- I loved her dress!!!  After the reception, we went to target to buy somethings for a combined Relief Society/Young Women activity.  At  5, we left to set up, and didn't get back til around 9:30.  I quickly went to bed (why spend more time in solitary then necessary?).

The next day, I was up uber-early.  It was moving day!!! I was finally un-grounded, and soo ready to move to my new apartment.  The day was pretty uneventful...drove down to Provo, unloaded...met one of my two roommates, left for lunch and to pick up my books.  After lunch, my parents left, and I started unpacking.  It's funny...I spent about a day gathering all my stuff to take, but it only took about 3 hours to unpack. Hmm.  Probably cuz I was also straightening up my room -- making sure it would be ready if my brother moved in.

Anyway -- after I unpacked, I went back to the WSC to fill out employment info -- I was hired by BYU broadcasting. :)  Afterwards, I went to the broadcasting building, thinking I'd just check-in, say that I'd filled out the paperwork, and get more info.  Not so.  After checking to make sure I was ready to go (in terms of paperwork), they asked if I wanted to start working right then.  I did.  I got to work in the BYU International section of master control...kinda learned the basics.  I was happy to work with someone who let me try everything myself -- he'd show my how to do something, then have me do it.  Doesn't seem too hard, just like it could get a bit tedious at times.  Anyway - I also found out that I have to have a job orientation where I find out all the rules, how to clock in, etc.  I was given the number to call right as I was leaving to head to the welcome social for my housing area.  The welcome thing was fun -- met a lot of new people, went on a bounce house obstacle course, got rained on...lots of fun. :)

Today was the first day of New Student Orientation (NSO).  Even though I didn't go to sleep til like 12:30, I was up by 6:15 (couldn't sleep - -too excited. =P ).  After showering, eating, etc, I head over to the field to check in.  After accidentally going to a purple group instead of a blue, I finally found my group.  Very fun...I was happy because my Y group leaders kept going around repeating everyone's name to make sure they knew everyone, so that made it easy to keep track of new people and learn everyone's names.  After a bit, we headed over to the Marriott Center for Convocation.  Really fun -- we got to see a video about BYU (House of Dreams), then hear from a member of the BYUSA (actually i think it was the president of BYUSA...), and President Samuelson.  Very fun and interesting.  Then we had lunch.  I was planning on calling the people at Broadcasting during lunch, but I was texting and eating and talking, so I didn't call until we were back in the Marriott Center.  Fortunately though, I got that all sorted out before the next activity started.  We learned a bit about education at BYU, made paper airplanes (=P), then headed over to the JFSB to find out about Education in Zion, an exhibit upstairs in that building.  Then, we went on a tour of the AMAZING Harold B Lee Library, before heading over to the WSC for a presentation on the bookstore.

After that, I walked back to my apartment for a quick dinner, before heading back to the Marriott Center.  There was a presentation on the BYU Honor Code, presented  by "David Betterman", who was joined by special guest Cosmo, the BYU Mascot.  Next, we headed over to the stadium for a class picture, before ending with a freshman pep rally.  We got to see the cheer squad, band, and freshman athletes.  I have to say...I swore I'd never attend a football game, but now I'm considering changing my mind...I have to go to at least one just to see how they are, and might as well go now.  So...we'll see.  But I think I'll go.

So ya...now I'm just chillin'...getting ready to head to bed though I think.  Anyway, that's My Crazy Life.  =P
